THE BOARDER, will be released for showing in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 10, 2012! THE BOARDER, an independent film written by Nebraskan Jane E Ryan and filmed in Central Nebraska, was inspired by families still struggling to love and connect with youngsters who were victims of early childhood trauma.

Ryan, an adoptive & bio mother, therapist, and writer, stated that this movie has always meant to enlighten the world about an often unrecognized, world-wide disorder called Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). RAD is a profound brain development problem which results from traumatic separations and events that affects the entire family in often unbearable ways.

To put this disorder in more practical terms, it is estimated that at least 88% of our current incarcerated adult population are grown-up victims with untreated attachment difficulties. The disorder becomes easier to diagnose once professionals learn how to recognize it, but can still be hard to treat due to a lack of information and/or properly trained therapists.

Jane often says THE BOARDER is more than a movie; instead, it is a movement!  It is anticipated that audiences everywhere will be moved by what they see on the screen — those who love a great story will find it entertaining, and it will enlighten those who desire to build great families.

Also, this has been described as God’s project from the start… and Jane believes she is just the girl on the ground doing what she can to follow directions.

The official Kickoff Date for promotions and advance ticket sales is May 14th, 2012,,, but here’s what is coming up:

There will be 2 showings of THE BOARDER at the Grand Theater in Grand Island, Nebraska…

the Gala Screening will start at 2pm, and the Premiere at 7pm.

Tickets are $8 each, with $2 from each sale going directly to the RYAN INSTITUTE for FAMILY HEALTH to provide education and treatment to families and professionals who want to help traumatized children.

Although not officially ‘rated’,  Ryan has determined the movie to be PG13 and children must attend with parents. The rating is such due to the tough subjects and rough language are part of the story of THE BOARDER and rough language.

As a treat for audiences, we’re expecting some of the stars and producers to attend and plan, among other fun and exciting events, to have a Q & A following both screenings so the audience can ask questions and get to know the filmmakers.

Also, the red carpet at both screenings will be hosted by one of Nebraska’s finest interviewers, Peggy Philips from KRVN radio. We hope to bring in folks from all over the United States for a fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime, Great time!!
